Strategic planning

It's the roadmap that guides daily actions.

Plan Strategy is the overall approach or method chosen to achieve objectives, often balancing resources and risks.

Strategy An action step is a specific task you do today that moves you closer to your goal.

It breaks big plans into doable actions.

You have an incident commander.

You have a strategic planning person.

You know, you have your ESL functions.

It's how the Emergency Operations Center works throughout the state.

Was that because only three good strategies existed, or because that's all your team had the brainpower and hours to come up with? If it's the second one, and for almost every company it is, then AI isn't just changing how you plan.

It's exposing that most strategic planning has been operating with one hand and Tied behind its back the whole time Welcome back to the Manager Lab.

Today, we're digging into a piece from the September-October issue of Harvard Business Review 2026 called AI is Revolutionizing Strategic Decision Making, written by Felipe Cesar, who chairs the strategy area at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business.

This isn't another AI is coming for your job episode.

That's still on the thing, uh, on the, on the radar, which we might talk about it here in a little while.

Uh, but you know, just overall, uh, for a default, um, kinda template, uh, we're kinda looking at, at creating a strategic plan, uh, with just some kinda basic goals to, to kind of focus on, uh, in between the, the hurdles.

Uh, but really strengthen membership and member engagement, um, I think is number one.

Um, we've already had a lot of conversations with some of our partner agencies, uh, even with, uh, NFPA, uh, about, you know, trying to increase the member benefits, um, and, and things that we can do for our members, uh, and especially the chapter members that aren't NFPA members yet-

... and, and connect with each other.

And, you know, props to Justin for his strategic plan.

He is much more organized than me.

Resources will need to have been made available, and strategists will need to have analyzed how nonviolent struggle can be most effectively applied.

The Need for Strategic Planning.

Political defiance campaigns against dictatorships may begin in a variety of ways.

In 2024, 98% of producers who completed the National Pork Board's producer survey stated that herd health is essential to the future success of the industry.

This feedback formed the National Pork Board's three-year strategic plan, which aims to improve the lives of pigs and people while achieving measurably healthier swine herd.

One step towards this plan is to improve the herd health, particularly when it comes to PRRS virus.

And this is to understand the research that's already published, the research that's in process, and the gaps that need to be filled.

We wanna know it past the rigor test that we know we rely on it.

Yeah, absolutely.
