Strafford

I think for a long time, like, my music was something that could be pretty easily compartmentalized and explained for the people around me, you know? Some people had heard of me.

People in, like, town, Strafford, you know, Hanover, knew I was making music, and they'd come to my shows.

And, uh, for a while, I think it was like, "Yeah, like, how's, how's Noah's stuff doing?" Like, "Great." It's like, "I saw him on Instagram.

So cool that he's playing this venue." And then-

...

I think, uh, when you asked about how it's changed is I have that ... had- have had that realization very intimately and very intensely.

And in making this record it was, like, so there was a lot of intention behind how am I gonna talk about this kind of stuff, how do I approach not just talking about Vermont and St- or Strafford or New Hampshire, but about my family, like, having conversations with my mom, my dad, sending them everything before, saying, "Are you okay with this?" And if they say no, then it's not coming out and we're not doing it.

And so really letting people have the opportunity to, like, defend their experience that is gonna be filtered through mine.
