Um, there's other major cards that are played in the format that have synergy in the same color pie.

First, Storm-Kiln Artist, right? So it's really, really cool that you can cast-

If you have Basalt Monolith and Rings of Brighthearth, you can-... can make, uh, billions of colorless mana, dump that into this, make a bunch of 2/2s, and attack your opponents and win the game.

You could also play Chain of Smog and Storm-Kiln Artist to copy Chain of Smog over and over again, making infinite treasures, and as you do that, since you're copying the spell over and over again, use their treasures, dump it into this, make infinite 2/2s, and attack your opponents to win the game.

It's a little bit better, because it's a three-mana commander rather than a six-mana commander, and you do get one one-card combo with it, but you also get several two-card combos, and some of them, like Storm-Kiln Artist, is just kind of a good card.
