Stop the War Coalition

A document on Fife Council's planning portal explains that such a facility would comprise, quote, "process buildings, earth-covered storage magazines with associated earthworks, ancillary buildings, access, parking, landscaping, drainage, and associated infrastructure." A storage magazine is a specialized secure structure built to store and protect explosives, ammunition, or hazardous munitions.

Uh, a spokesperson for the Scottish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament said, quote, "This news serves as further evidence of a concerted effort to militarize the Scottish economy." Meanwhile, Stop the War representative, uh, Colum McAleer said the news was, quote, "the latest in a string of stories which confirm Scotland's place on the front lines of the British war economy." Hamish, we've been talking a little bit about this in conference this morning.

Is the future for the Scottish economy just, like, weapons factories and AI data centers? Is that the best that we can do? [laughs]

[laughs] It's a depressing vision of the future, isn't it? Um, yeah, I mean, I think one of the depressing, or one of the most depressing things about this is that, um, and, you know, people have made this argument for decades now, that there's an awful lot of useful work that could be done.

Around 150 people were arrested on Sunday and overnight into Monday outside the Labor Conference in Liverpool for holding placards saying, I oppose genocide, I support Palestine action.

Lindsey German, the convener of Stop the War Coalition, which has organized nationwide protests against Israel's genocide in Gaza, responded to Milibrand's speech by saying, For nearly three years, our pro-Palestine movement has brought hundreds of thousands of people onto the streets of the UK, demanding the British government ends its complicity in the Gaza genocide and stop arming Israel.

Germans said that Miliband's silence on Palestine action and on the government's attack on the right to protest is in danger of appearing hypocritical.

If he truly believes in his responsibility to leave the world a better place than when he would have joined us in demanding Burnham and the Home Secretary de-proscribe Palestine action, he must reverse the legislation that now criminalizes large amounts of people, previously lawful protest, and drop the charges.

Because I insisted that Julian Assange didn't rape anybody, that Julian Assange was being framed, that Julian Assange was innocent, at a time when the liberals and Trotskyites in the leadership of the anti-war movement were demanding that Julian Assange be extradited to Sweden to face the fake charges that everybody now knows had been levelled against him.

I don't know if there are any other reasons, but the leaders of the Stop the War Coalition, the communist president, Andrew Murray, and the Trotskyite secretary and organizer who, along with her small group of Trotskyites, maintain complete and dominant control over the Stop the War Coalition and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, they basically blackballed me.

So I haven't spoken at a Stop the War rally for more than 10 years.

And now they've apparently all gone green, these people, which would make my involvement with them impossible now in any case.

So that's one issue.

Because they are liberals in Trotskyites, they hate the regime in Iran, and that has paralysed them in the whole run-up to this war, because they already had pledged their support to the so-called Iranian opposition.

whether it was on hijabs or hair or any of the other bogus pretexts that were used to demonize, marginalize the Iranian government and state.

And so it's more difficult for them now to, as it were, build back and seek to stop the war on Iran.
