And we still don't know them.

We won't know the impacts of social media and conversations about sex and sexuality and SESTA-FOSTA laws.

We're not going to know the impacts of those things for decades, potentially.

And they should be continued to be studied.

basically wouldn't be possible.

We're seeing the first infringement on Section 230 with SESTA-FOSTA, which is regulation that was meant to target sex trafficking.

I write about this in the book, about how SESTA-FOSTA came about.

There's this background story of this site called Backpage.

which used to be an ad like Craigslist or one of these kind of sites, but a lot of sex workers were using it.

And so this story culminated in Backpage successfully having protected itself by saying that because of Section 230, they're not responsible for what users are posting to Facebook.

to their page, which of course was very frustrated to a lot of people who were saying, yeah, but they're, you know, they're bad things happening on your site, you know, and you should be held accountable as a platform because you're profiting from these things.

And long story short, we had, well, we sort of saw the implementation of SESTA-FOSTA, which has basically meant that if Section 230 no longer applies if there is suspicion, not just of sex trafficking, but also of prostitution on the site, which of course has had a lot of very big implications also for sex workers.

But people don't realize that, and they don't...

And, and in 2018, what people also don't realize, FOSTA-SESTA, a lot of boards were tooken down because of FOSTA-SESTA, and that was...

And also Backpage was tooken down.

Yeah.

... which is wrong.

It's disgusting.

And Figueroa was not there before FOSTA-SESTA was signed.

It just, it ruined a lot of things.

I've also heard it from countless clients who do similar work to me who are doms or sex workers or do like any kind of work with sex education or anything like that, right? Like if you have any work that is in the erotic realm, you have probably experienced being banned, violating community guidelines, being censored, having posts removed, accounts deleted, maybe even worse, like having bank accounts removed or shut down.

The list kind of goes on and it really got worse in 2018 with FOSTA-SESTA.

So I have fallen apart over this a million times over.

I have the right mentors and spaces that can hold me in that.
