He's also a professor of finance at Stockton University and a public policy analyst.

We have a couple of different systems of colleges, right? We have public colleges, which includes community, all right, that are run by state organizations, state departments, state education systems are accountable to some of the state.

So for example, I went through what's now Richard Stockton University of New Jersey, That's a state college.

New Jersey has, as far as I know, 21 different state community colleges.

The community colleges issue your associate's degree, two-year degree, or often some types of a certificate or a training certificate for different kinds of classes.

Joining us to explain what that could mean for you and your family is Michael Bussler.

He's an economist, public policy analyst, as well as professor of finance over at Stockton University.

In terms of the big and small things that consumers buy on credit, such as homes, cars, or even day-to-day purchases that go on a credit card, what does that mean for them with this rate hike?

I guess I'll take it back to kind of the beginning.

I did my undergrad in historical studies and ancient Greek language at Stockton University in South Jersey.

Very small college.

Not that many people, but I had a great ancient Greek language teacher.

I started my career, actually, not a lot of people know this.

Right out of college, I got my degree in marine science from Stockton University.

I am what my father used to call, because of the translation from Serbian, a posy sniffer.

I am a tree hugger.

I went to Rowan.

But all my best friends, I was in between Rutgers, New Brunswick, because I had friends up there, Stockton College, and Widener.

And that was where I would go.

I was at all those other colleges so much, people thought I went there.
