Stockton Ports

At number 10, Stockton, California.

They have the Stockton Ports.

It's a Central Valley metropolis.

Better than people think, by the way, folks.

Right.

So here I am, um, in my first full year with Stockton Ports.

That's a sing- Single-A team, minor, minor league team of the Milwaukee Brewers.

So I go through routine practice, and I felt good.

He would come all the time.

I worked for the Stockton Ports.

He would come to a bunch of games.

I worked for the University of Pacific.

... with the beer and the baseball.

Uh, he, he goes, at, at this point it's, uh, he, he started 1994 with the Beloit or Belois or something or other, Beloit Brewers of the A-Class Midwest League, and he impresses enough to, to get the, the bump to high A, to the Stockton Ports halfway through the year.

Now, I did mention 1994, and Eds, you and most of our audience probably know what happened in, to baseball in 1994.

Mm-hmm.

I mean, I'm just going to ask all of you who live in the Bay Area, when was the last time you went and watched a San Jose Giants game? When was the last time you went out and watched a Modesto Nuts game? They don't exist anymore.

When was the last time you drove up and watched a Stockton Ports game? probably not as many as you did A's games when they were in town.

So I just think that there is going to be a natural kind of, you know, leaving of the aviators to go to the A's, which is why I think that this is an opportunity for the A's to find another place to put their AAA team.

The community of Vegas should be satisfied.

It's also around the time that the growth of the port in Stockton led to this becoming one of the largest inland ports in the United States, connecting Stockton to the San Francisco Bay Area.

And the port gives the name for the local minor league team, the Stockton Ports.

The city has now grown to over 300,000.

It went through one of the largest municipal bankruptcies in the United States in 2012, but the city exited bankruptcy in 2015.
