STL

Because for those of you who don't know, Trench Crusade is a model agnostic.

The company does have its own official STLs for each faction, if you want to get them directly from them.

And now, obviously, they're experimenting with hard plastic with this new release.

Because New Antioch, as of right now, I think is the only faction that that got uh hard plastic releases maybe heretic legion because this was before i started playing um but so they haven't had a lot of this so this is kind of a big deal that their shift that they're shifting and so i'm like well you know what i i want to play these two factions i'm going to look up some stuff i'm going to see what what i can get and so i'm ordering stuff off of etsy and mind you It's me, Todd.

But then you've got to find minis that fit that.

Yeah, yeah, but you'd have to probably go to the STL market, yeah.

When you can't ask AI to just put some flesh over the top of some of these dudes.

i i still think i unfortunately maybe it's a plaster technology thing or something but i still rate the um okay i can never remember the freaking stl provider the one you printed those scorpions from me josh um And I used four of the horses on my Cetra chariot and they just, they look spectacular for the STLs, their horses.

And they're sort of, you know, they're decay.

It's called a headpiece, and I can tell you that because here's the STL for just the headpiece, should you want to wear it.

I could print this for $12 here, and then it's probably $100, not $100, probably $10 for filament.

Well, you're better than 90% of the people that asked me to print shit.

And I know I mentioned it, but some of the STLs that I sent you had had like two other downloads.

Nobody is buying animal STLs.

Cause I've even seen, there's a, there's like an Etsy store that has made some, like they've made STL files similar.

And like, I know a guy that like, like, uh, I don't know if he, I don't know if he bought the figures or if they were selling the STLs and bought, but he showed up with like a set of, um, space King psycho warriors instead of space Marines for a kill team.

Nice.

I mean, I guess I get, I'm looking through some of these stretch goals and it's like, yeah, we're unlocking this.

Then we have 3MF, which defines unit scale, color, materials, and even printer orientation natively within the file.

And finally, we have STL, the legacy format from 1987.

And STL is where the automation nightmares really begin.

Oh, I want to talk about the 25.4 scaling error.

I hear about this all the time.

The report states that if units are omitted in an STL file, standard slicers will assume a conversion that multiplies the dimensions by exactly 25.4 times.

Because 25.4 is the exact conversion factor from inches to millimeters.

Right.
