Still Life

What's the first book you'll absolutely stock on your shelves? What was in that first order you thought, right, that's number one, that's going in there?

Still Life by Sarah Whitman.

Always, always, always.

Yeah, that and We Begin at the End are my two favourite books ever, ever, ever.

Yeah, she's magic.

She's just magic.

It's lovely to hear Tilly talk about her favorite books, particularly Still Life by Sarah Winman, which she describes with such affection that I suspect there will be a permanent stack of copies near the front of the shop.

And that's one of the pleasures of an independent bookshop.

Oh, no, now I do.

Okay, so the favorite book is Still Life by Sarah Winman, and I read-

Oh

... her book called The, A Year of Marvelous Ways on audio.

[gasps]

... you're, like, pausing every sentence and you're like, "How, how did she do that?" Like, it's exquisite, masterful.

So then I was looking into her backlist, and I'm like, oh, my gosh, I remember hearing about Still Life, but I had never picked it up.

It's a longer book.
