was the main thing just to keep the club afloat that was the main thing it's just a mismanagement of the club behind the scenes the number of players I think we're going to touch on later we got a list of players who got sold in order to balance the books um and it just happened every season you just knew that somebody is going to go for 10 million quid there's going to be someone who you're sort of relying on

we can't let the uh the player sales pass about probably talking about the 2011 2012 august transfer deadline day great sale of the century i think it's uh obviously you're going to talk about arteta but they also got rid of i think yakubu on that day Jermaine Beckford's gone on that day and I think Steven Pienaar went on that day or just before.

So just as the season's about to start and they're giving Moyes absolutely zero time to replace these players, you're getting rid of some pretty important footballers.

I think Arteta and Yakuza.

And I, I thought that was some really good, good insight as well into, uh, into that.

Um, who's have thought that, you know, the, the Baines, Pienaar, Kale golden age would be, uh, [chuckles] looked upon fondly.

I'm saying, but if he was ahead of us for a long time, By the end of it, I think he showed in three or four different football teams I played in, the Pienaars and the Kales and when Darren Gibson came and Jelovic.

We played a lot of different good football along the way.

But he always starts at the back.

So with that said, now when scouts are coming back, because this is the thing that we used to complain about, that we no longer have players that are going overseas.

The last time we had a bunch of players that left the country went overseas, there was Steven Pinar era.

There's a lot of players that went overseas then.

Ever since then, there's been a gap.

I just spoke to him briefly just because we're fellow South Africans.

But I kind of got the impression that it was kind of at the end of the evening and I kind of got the impression that he didn't want to talk very much.
