We had done an incredible job identifying, obviously, antiretroviral therapy, reducing mother-to-child transmission in women living with HIV, and of course, beginning to get a handle on cardiometabolic and comorbid conditions associated with aging, but we hadn't yet explored menopause to a great extent.

That became my first NIH grant submission, and I received a K-23 training grant under the mentorship of Dr. Steven Grinspoon.

And that's how I entered into this research area.
