Steve Wright used to love that song, so I like to remember Steve.

We've got a text here that says, Hi, Ross or John, I'm Grumpy Man.

I managed to listen to the first two hours of the Steve Wright Show on Tuesday before losing the will to live.

What happened? So, Steve Wright? Yes.

What's going on? Well, see, I was supposed to do it, and then, I'll be honest, I slept

in.

But if

going to be on Steve Wright's big quiz this week...

Oh, yeah.

And came to prominence, I think Steve, I don't think, I know that Steve Wright played a huge role.

Steve Wright was such a champion of comedy and comedians.

And also, a little bit of extra intel, comedy publicists... loved Steve Wright because Steve Wright always said the tour dates.

And so if you're a comedy publicist, it's your job to say sell a tour.

And what can easily happen is that a comedian goes on a show and they end up talking about anything other than the tour.

And then the interview's finished.

And so the publicist is sort of like head in hands, like, well, that was the whole purpose of, you know, driving to Manchester or whatever, you know? And Steve Wright would literally go, right, so your tour starts, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

It had six and a half million listeners every day.

And it was a guy called Steve Wright in the afternoon.

I'd never heard radio like this.

The guy was sarcastic, funny, really playful.

That really sorted me out.

The subjects of this year's show were they DJ Steve Wright and Elvis, and neither of them is going to get any more or less dead in the immediate term.

Now, there's been a general perception that the festival this year essentially curled up and died in the last week, and certainly I did notice a big drop-off in numbers in the last week, but not to catastrophic levels.

So we got out of there okay, and a lot of friends of mine are saying, right, screw it, I'm not doing Edinburgh again.
