Um, the band wasn't originally conceived as a traditional group.

Um, Eskelin had been performing as a solo artist, but after touring with Steve Taylor & The Newsboys, where pre-recorded backing tracks weren't allowed, his music was rearranged for a live rock band.

And drummer Christian Crowe had already been playing with Eskelin, and guitarist Brian Whitman, keyboardist Patrick McCollum, and bassist Gary Miller joined the lineup.

Somewhere along the way, Eskelin realized he was tired of carrying the entire responsibility of being a solo artist, and the group decided to become a band.

But, um, this just felt kind of similar.

That's why I was kind of thinking through.

steve taylor was like a major lyricist so for huge like platinum selling christian bands yeah and he's edgy enough that he's not going to be forcing this sort of weirdo ccm stuff on them

Did that sell less than 100,000 copies? It might have done, but it would have sold more in the United States.

I would crowdfund it for one reason.

So for me, I'm not someone who's dove into a lot of their stuff, but one of my favorite people to crowdfund is Steve Taylor.

That's because he sends so many updates along the way.

He'll send 70 updates and be like, hey, here's a free track I'm just going to throw in or whatever.

a bummer for sure um and so i think that's one of the challenges too like the freedom of it is good for the artists and the fans but the freedom of it also um creates an easier out um because there is actually there was one record that that got crowdfunded by the artists Fleming and John, John Mark Painter.

He's in The Perfect Foil with Steve Taylor, but him and his wife had a project, and they crowdfunded their third record, and that was over 10 years ago.

And to this day, it has not been released.
