But, see, the thing about it was they were wrong.

They were going, they tried to go under his head.

Steve Sloan thought Coach Ryan approved it, but that wasn't the case.

Now, Texas A&M was not a member of the Southeastern Conference, that was a non-conference game.

But Alabama, Steve Sloan and company, they decided not to go to College Station.

And I remember Jackie Sherrill, he got a little upset because it ended up being a beautiful Saturday, but they actually postponed the game till later that season in 1988.

Um, uh, do you remember that? Any kind of details on what happened with-

Um, Steve Sloan was the athletics director at the University of Alabama, and he basically announced the postponement [laughs] of the game.

I mean, Alabama just took the bull by the horns, and they just announced, "Hey, we're not, we're not playing the game." So Jackie Sherrill decided that he was gonna call Alabama, and he called them.

He had a conversation with Bill Curry, talked to Steve Sloan, and basically Jackie Sherrill said that their decision was based because the traveling party did not wanna fly into College Station, and they got expert advice from Delta Airlines, who was handling the charter-
