Augustine on the Modern Condition with Steve Kruschel
23:54
30:42

Kelsi KlembaraHOST
It is, but not as, you know, starkly as it was probably in augustine's day and even luther's day um i think that that's it's an interesting thing to kind of have to wrestle with what is god doing when things are difficult or when they're suffering um where can we go wrong in that in that conversation would you say
S
24:22Steve KruschelGUEST
That was one of the big things that Augustine was wrestling with throughout a lot of his life.
S
24:27Steve KruschelGUEST
If there is a God and he's good, why is there evil in the world? And I think that's such a modern question again, too.
S
24:36Steve KruschelGUEST
Just talking with college students who are struggling with faith or who maybe don't even have a church, I get to be on campus quite a bit, and talk with college students who are struggling with these questions.

24:48Steve KruschelGUEST
And Augustine was really helpful with some of those answers where he was really good at picking out Bible passages that point to some good answers for that.

And I think like with so many things, you have to be aware of the extremes.

You've kind of already alluded to some of the material in the confessions itself, but how are the confessions, how does Augustine organize the confessions? What's kind of the, if you were just to pick it up and read it, how is it organized and laid out? And then how did you lay out your devotional based on that?
