How would those collaborations be formed, Holly? I mean, how on, would someone like Mindy Smith end up getting in contact with Dolly and having those conversations?

My guess with Mindy Smith is Dolly's producer, one of Dolly's many producers is a man named Steve Buckingham.

He did have ties to that independent, uh, bluegrass Sugar Hill community, so he could have asked.

Right? So it's someone that, that, that had a line into the, into the, the organization that said, "Would you listen to this song?" And they did.

You know, you can't imagine how excited we were when we heard back in 1994 that she wanted Altan to record on her Heart Songs album.

We got in contact with her through her producer at the time, a man by the name of Steve Buckingham, who produced many of her records, in fact.

But she loved our sound and she wanted something that would sound Irish, but kind of work with the bluegrass country, old timey recording that she was doing.

And so that's how that recording of Barbara Allen came about, where she would sing in English and then she had Mairead sing in Irish because, of course, a version of that song already existed in Mairead's family.

And she, she wrote that song, um, when sh- Steve Buckingham produced that album, The Grass Is Blue, and, um, he told me that, um, they were discussing the song and, or, or the album and what songs should they do.

And she was, she was, uh, working on another film at the time, and he said he, she called him up and said, "I've, I've got our title song." She'd been in her trailer and wrote the song, and played it for him over the phone with just the guitar.
