At what stage did you become part of the story? How did you get to New York? And what are your memories of kind of getting there and getting to grips with this story?

I continued to be at the conference for another couple of days, the main reason being that the head of counter-terrorism at Scotland Yard, David Van Ness, was due to give a speech.

And he went ahead with that speech.

But I remember him very clearly saying that 9-11 had rewritten the history book on terror attacks.

As soon as he left, I went back to London And by that stage, so about three or four days in to the story by then, I remember talking to the head of news and saying, look, I don't know why I'm in London.

There are 40 Scotland Yard officers who've flown to New York and a press officer.

I mean, I think I should be there.

Do you think they've got the ability to go on and do that Wrighty, or am I being unfair?

Um, it's hard to say.

Uh, I can, I can only speak from my own personal experiences when I've played in sporting teams.

I've performed for some teams and I've not performed for others, and it's just where I've felt comfortable, where I fit into the plan.

Um, you know, the environment that I'm able to thrive in.

It- I think that's a lot what to do with the- these lads and anyone who's played sport themselves, whatever sport that may be, you always thrive in a more comfortable environment and a, an environment that suits you more.

Uh, whether that be simple case of, oh, I live 20 minutes away from my parents and I'm playing football for Stockport, you know, or whether it's, you know, different countries or there's loads of different environmental impact factors, isn't there, with, with footballers and maybe he'll find a club that, or they will find a club that's better suited to them and, and, and make it successful.

How would you quantify the impact on the resort after just the 51st state comment, but also just the tensions escalating immediately after that?

Well, first of all, thanks for having me on, Phil.

You know, we saw the dip in vacation bookings toward us.

We have an Olympic-sized hockey rink here.

We saw a drop in hockey teams willing to participate from the Canadian side of the border.

We saw a bit of a dip in season passes, winter season passes of folks coming to the resort.

And all of that sort of amalgamated into about a 30 to 50, 30 to 40 percent drop that was made up for by a massive increase on the U.S. side of the business because we had so much snow last year in eastern skiers stayed with us because we had so much snow in the western part of the country.

What's the response been?

So for me, as well for our listeners, what exactly, how do you explain this? How does a person actually begin to find the one move that matters? If you can just explain.

Yeah, staying stuck in a business is no fun at all.

You know, I've been there myself.

And I think from my own experience and from what I've talked to others about, the challenge is that you keep doing similar things that you know how to do and that you have solutions that you've tried before and keep repeating similar sorts of out and get certain kinds of outcomes the same way.

So you're not changing the way you're doing the business.

And to change the way you're doing the business, to get unstuck, you have to step back from the business.

It's kind of like you're driving your business along and you're in a car and your wheels get stuck in a big, big area of mud.

What is the first practical step to move from that reactive chaos to clarity and profitable momentum? Like, what do they do differently on Tuesday morning?

Could you tell us a bit about that?

Yeah, so Father John Wotherspoon was a prison chaplain who first met Jutting in 2014 after his arrest and Marley was being held on remand.

So he got to know him pretty well.

So it was natural I should ring him.

And he had a detailed conversation about Jutting, his life now in prison.

And I asked him.

that he, as a priest, could forgive him because of his monstrous acts.

And do you think jutting targeted these people because you knew they would fall through the cracks?
