Stephen Flaherty

It was just, it wasn't making the right connection when I finally did.

And then Gypsy was obviously, it was too hard because I really wanted her for the ragtime year last year for Stephen Flaherty, Lynn Ahrens.

And it just couldn't work because of the schedule and Gypsy.

Mm-hmm.

why is that?

Well, first of all, it's written by two friends of mine, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, who wrote Ragtime, which right now, if you haven't seen the revival, it's just magnificent.

It's on Broadway now.

And You know, I did other animated movies.

But one of the other musicals that Tim Curry was part of, which didn't run long at all, was My Favorite Year.

which was done by Stephen Flaherty and Lynne Aarons, and you might know those names because they did shows like Once on this Island, Ragtime, they did Rocky the Musical, they did the stage version of Anastasia, and so on and so on.

So yeah, so my favorite year, a musical based on the 1982 film, right? We've been talking about musicals that were based off of movies.

And Tim Curry played the part that Peter O'Toole played in the movie, Alan Swan.

And then after that, I ended up booking the first national tour of Chicago, and that was a, a dream come true because I was working with some of my entertainment heroes, Ann Reinking included in that.

And then after that, I was able to do Ragtime the Musical, which was the original, you know, version, and that first national tour, and I was working with my superheroes, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, who wrote that musical, and Terrence McNally and Frank Galati and, and an incredible cast.

So I, I've ha- I've had many, many moments.

Then I've also written my own piece, my own musical called Sammy and Me, and being able to share that with the world has been an incredible opportunity and something that is, you know, just like I said before, a huge heart burst because you're sharing your own words with people and communicating your thoughts and your desires and your fears and all of that with, with an audience that you don't know, and, and they're receiving that story.

You know, everything that's in the museum, we went to the artist, to the writer, to the creative, um, to get their permission to, to use it on the walls.

Um, so in the case of the piano for Ragtime, you know, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty gave us permission to, to do that.

So it's just, you know, it's very much the museum is made, um, by people who work in Broadway.

Um, and, and it's everyone coming together to celebrate the art form.
