And then my third year, luckily I didn't win my second year because my third year it was in person and it was completely sold out.

I played Dancing in the Street by Stephen Day and I won and it paid for my first two years of college.

And it was an incredible competition.

And like, playing in front of that many people it's like like you played a bar and nobody's listening and everybody's drunk it's like oh wow i hate this hate this a lot like i'm glad i'm playing music and i'm glad to like the two really really drunk people that are accidentally tipping me in hundred dollar bills actually happened a couple times wow was not complaining i kind of earned it but but like playing to an audience that's actually listening

A lot of Phoebe Bridgers, naturally.

[laughs] A lot of Steven Day when in, when I was in high school.

N- which is crazy, 'cause now Steve's a friend.

But yeah, just anybody that was, like, that you could kind of feel was honest.
