But tell us a little bit about why should we actually be proactive? What does that look like and why is it important?
7:43
So on a daily basis, we can talk about what matters and what really doesn't matter.
7:47
Your genetics matter, but you don't get to change those.
7:50
You get to change the expression of those.
7:53
And so that's ultimately it.
7:54
So all of my grandparents had rheumatoid arthritis, all four.
7:57
Both my parents had rheumatoid arthritis.

23:16
But for parents who've never heard of this test, they've never heard of a minerals and metals test, why would you recommend this test from your clinical perspective for a child that has been through cancer treatment? Why would you say that this would be a good test to run?
2:04
go get it checked out because there's usually an underlying issue, correct?
2:07
Without a doubt.
2:07
And actually, I would never have guessed you were 40.
2:09
I actually didn't.
2:10
I didn't know that.
2:11
That's fantastic.
2:12
So you're doing so many good things, I'm sure, already for your health.

8 MINS LATER

10:01
or
13:06
Mm-hmm.
13:06
So that affects the testes in men and the ovaries in women.
13:09
But the master component, and I know that you actually mentioned this before, is actually the HPA axis.
13:15
That's the adrenals.
13:16
So if the adrenals are over-firing, which by the way, the adrenals are, you know, they're doing their own thing, like, they're just getting signals.
13:24
That's literally it.
13:25
But if they are overactive because of the brain, and there can be certain stresses, so the stress can be environmental, it could be gut-based, it could be toxicity-based, but there's something telling your body, "It's not safe.

52 MINS LATER

66:05
Yeah.
15:10
So how specifically does at-home integrative health lab tests, how does that change the way people engage with their health in your experience?
15:19
So even for myself, when I was 17 through 19 years old, I went to over ab- about two dozen different medical specialists in Boston, Massachusetts.
15:26
Brilliant doctors.
15:27
My PCP went to Harvard, brilliant guy.
15:29
The issue is they were only running blood work, and all they found off of my blood work were really low white blood cells.
15:35
And so they discerned that it wasn't cancer, and once they found that, they had no idea what else it was.
15:40
So I was left guessing, going from specialist to specialist, being told that it's either all in my head, or they could see my, all my glands were swollen, my lymph nodes, but they didn't know why, and so it would have to get worse in my blood work before they could do something about it.
18:07
What would you say is the very first action that they should take to stop guessing and start personalizing their health?
4:52
So I've already done like a, you know, formal intro, but I just want you to share a little bit more of your story and your journey that's brought you into the incredible global work that you have been up to, you know, your own personal experience so the audience can get to know you a little bit better.
5:06
Yeah, absolutely.
5:06
I always say that no one usually chooses to become a doctor of naturopathy.
5:11
It's a path that chooses you.
5:13
And I'm very happy that it did.
5:14
I mean, it took a lot to get there.
5:16
I was just a regular everyday kid growing up.

6 MINS LATER

11:29
Can we touch on the other side, which is toxicity?
4:39
Will you talk about the different levels? Because obviously I'm going through separate levels right now of the course and everything, and kind of why the focus is in the order that it is and what you obtain in each level, because there is so much there, and it's really interesting.
4:53
So our goal is always to create a bio-individualized plan.
4:57
That means that, you know, when we look in social media right now, everything seems to be black and white.
5:01
You're either on the keto diet, carnivore diet, high-carb diet, low-carb diet.
5:06
You're doing high-intensity interval training or you're just walking.
5:09
It's like, but it's told that everybody should be doing this.
5:11
So we say, "You know what? There's a lot of great attributes to all sorts of different nutrition plans and exercise plans, but how do you know which one is right for you?" And so in level one, we use something called the de-stress protocol.

21 MINS LATER

26:46
Mm-hmm.
