The director of the Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture, Stephen Meyer started his professional life as a geophysicist.

Then he went back to school and earned a doctorate from Cambridge in the history and philosophy of science.

Stephen Meyer's most recent book, The Return of the God Hypothesis.

John Lennox is the professor of mathematics at the University of Oxford Emeritus.

And honestly, like the kind of the world of medieval thinking, how the whole world was somewhat symbolic in a lot of ways to the mind of medieval people and where it says that he is before all things.

i don't take that to mean merely in a chronological way i think that is you know ontological and logical way that's already kind of somewhat kind of maybe deep or something but um that he is the one who is holding all things together no how no matter how far deep you drill down with you know physics and the origin of life and all these kinds of ideas where you hear like somebody like Stephen Meyer or somebody like that talking about design and creation and all of that, that It is a mystery.

As far as we know with science and technology and the beginning of the universe and all that kind of stuff, I'm like, well, you know, there's so much we don't understand.

And I'm just thinking, well...

And so nobody else really should be feared other than the Lord.

Have you guys ever seen that documentary that was put out by Stephen Meyer called The Story of Everything? Have you heard of this? No.

So I'd never heard of it.

Is he a Christian? Yeah, yeah.

It's about two hours long.

But it is extraordinary.

So what Stephen Meyer does is he takes basically from just before Einstein, you know, through Hawking, through, you know, the modern day, looking at...

You know, theories around the Big Bang, around the expanding universe, all of this kind of stuff.

Um, or maybe, you know, talking about a lot of the books that have come out post-Dover.

A lot of really interesting ID scholarship has been written, stuff by Steve Meyer.

You know, Darwin's Doubt, Signature in the Cell, Return of the Gaian Hypothesis, all post-Dover books.

Two men that I have really recently been following, and I don't align with everything that everybody teaches, but you can glean what you need from them.

Dr. Stephen Meyer, he recently wrote a book called The Return of the God Hypothesis, basically using science to say, hey, we all know that there are some massive gaps now that are being discovered in the cosmological realm, in the signature of the cell, You got to take a look and return to the hypothesis that maybe there was somebody, a super being that actually initiated all this.

So that has made a huge dent in even the materialistic world of science.

And then one gentleman that I would extremely recommend, he's very intellectual.

There are a lot of other people right there at the same time.

Stephen Meyer is an example, but he was the point of the spear.

And he made the distinction, and I remember right where I was at when I heard this.

I was driving down the 405.

Martin Luther, when talking about sin, said that, In our self-centeredness, we are curved in on ourselves, and to be delivered from that, we need to be in relationship with Jesus.

Stephen Meyer, he is an intellectual.

He studied history and philosophy of science at Cambridge, and I was watching a recent interview with him, and the interviewer asked him, so, Stephen, how do you know that you're a Christian? And Stephen very quietly asked, well before I became a Christian, I would not have cared less about you.

But today, I actually care.

Well, today I get to hand the hosting mic over to Daily Wire host Ben Shapiro as we share with you his 2019 interview with philosopher of science Dr. Stephen Meyer on the Ben Shapiro Sunday Special.

This exchange happened five years ago now, and we thought it was a good time to put it out there again for those who may not have heard it yet or watched it when it first came out.

Dr. Meyer considers this one of his best interviews on the subject of his second solo book, Darwin's Doubt.

In this first half of the conversation, Dr. Meyer starts off with the basics including his own scientific background, the scientific pedigree of intelligent design, how ID differs from creationism, and how the theory might be falsified.

The pair then discuss the different meanings of the word evolution before Dr. Meyer gets into one of Darwin's biggest doubts, the mystery of the missing fossils, and how that relates to an even bigger mystery, the mystery of the origin of biological information.
