Particularly on the women's side of the draw, I couldn't get past this name, deep in cut land, Steph Gilmore.

Can you believe it? Uh, what a strange year she's had.

Uh, gets the heat, the, the event win at Snapper, but apart from that event win, uh, which is one of the greatest in her career, she's only won one other heat all year, uh, which was at Raglan in the next event.

And dude, like how much PTSD can Carissa Moore walk down the beach with? Like, like how much of it can she brush off before she paddles out for that heat? 'Cause Trestles has been, uh, famously, you know, it's robbed her of two world titles that she would've had, uh, next to her name in any other, in any other normal year, but that was a WSL finals year.

Lost one to Caroline Marks, lost one to Steph Gilmore when Steph went absolutely turbo.

Um, Steph is coming out of the Pacific league where she's literally, she knows that's her weakest place.

This is going to be a different skill set that's going to go well here.

In terms of previous winners that we've got in the draw, so on the ladies' side, we've got Steph Gilmore, who has a first.

She has a second place as well.

So she's probably, in terms of people in the event, historically the best one that's still remaining in the ladies' draw.

Um, she's, she's one of my favorite surfers and always will be.

Um, Stephanie Gilmore obviously is someone who I love watching her.

There's a lot of girls who I think, like, have their own style.

I actually have Felipe as one of my first losers coming out of Fiji, coming out of the South Pacific.

But I've married him up to eight-time women's world champion Stephanie Gilmore.

Both of them are either sitting very close to, or in Steph's case, underneath the cut line.

And someone like Felipe Toledo, someone like Stephanie Gilmore, the way they've performed at the past, at lower trestles under considerable pressure in the WSL Finals format in the past.

Felipe's won two world titles in that format.

Steph's won one.

And yeah, despite Steph having great results right there in the past, especially winning her most recent world championship there, I think it's something that, you know, she has her, her eye on and I think another major factor too is that you know we're hitting the postseason and if you're not at that number 14 you're not surfing in those events that are in the Philippines and of course I think one of our personal favorites over in Perniche Portugal so don't want to depend on just the result over there at the Pipe Masters either Dave
