The question I posed was, when was the last time Inter bought a goalkeeper or a defender who wasn't either just past his best or becoming into his best, who was at his actual peak? The last defender was Stefan De Vrij on a free transfer, and the last goalkeeper in his peak was Samir Handanovic.

Ever since then, it's been players that have either come up or have been on the way down and you've managed their decline, managed their growth.

They don't buy peak players, players at their peak in defence and goalkeeper.

The last was Samir Handanović in goal.

He was at the peak of his powers when Inter bought him, and it was Stefan de Vrij.

Every other defender, whether it's Acerbi or Škriniar or Bastoni, they were up and coming, or they had passed their best, or they were coming down and still had quality to give.

Now, that is also an issue.

But the fact of the matter is that we, Inter, I- Inter haven't bought an es- an established defender who is, who has, who is at the peak of his career for many, many years.

De Vrij was probably the last one.

Skriniar became a star at Inter.

De Vrij was already an established Serie A defender, quality Serie A defender when he joined Inter.

But since then, Inter have, have bought players that, that are either g- up and coming, will become good, or are past their best and on their way down to give some st- stability to that defense.

Like Acerbi, who was outstanding for Inter.

Okay, Pavard, Basic, uh, Augusto, Bastoni, that's good depth.

But I think if you look at Akanji and Stones, I'm not too impressed and I do th- like if you compare to with when Acerbi was at his absolute best or when De Vrij was at his absolute best.

I mean, I feel even with Darmian and Skriniar and them there was better depth in defense.

And when it comes to the goalkeepers, Pep Martinez and Provedel, it feels like, okay, it's a, it's, it's a step upwards compared to where Sommer was 'cause he was coming down, but the depth isn't better there.

Mm-hmm.

Um, so Maignan, Kjaer, De Vrij, Pavlovic.

Um, they have a formation of 4-2-3-1.

I, I don't look too much into that.

I would say yes, especially if you guaran- if it guarantees like a good center.

If you just tell me, "Oh, we're gonna sign a center back," like fucking, I don't know, De Vrij, some 36-year-old playing for Pathanikos on loan, then no. Um, but if you guarantee me someone elite, someone good, I would.

I think the only question why Balde would stay is if we need coverage at right back, because as we all know, Eric Garcia could move centrally.
