He previously served as operations manager for Powertech Hockey Development Group, helping lead high-performance training initiatives while building Powertech Development Podcast into a well-known hockey education platform.

Today, he oversees operations and development programming at BioSteel Sports Academy and hosts the Built from Steel podcast, focused on educating players, parents, and coaches on development, performance, and pathways through the game.

Andy Paquette is a longtime head coach, player development specialist, and head coach of the U16 AAA program at BioSteel Sports Academy.

As a player, he competed in the OHL and represented Canada at the U17 level before moving into a career in skill development, coaching and working with players around the world across youth, junior, professional and international hockey.

He founded Powertech Hockey Development, where he spent more than two decades focused on skill development athletic athlete performance and player education including extensive work with players and coaches across the nhl chl ncaa and youth hockey levels andy's coaching philosophy and centers around developing transferable skills hockey sense and deeper understanding of how the game is played he now brings that perspective to the built from steel podcast where he and eric discuss player development coaching scouting and navigating the hockey pathway So that was kind of a long introduction, but the reason for it folks is I wanted you guys to understand that these two guys kind of know what they're talking about and that's why I'm bringing them on to talk to you today.

And after that, there'll be the last chance qualifier on Friday night in Texas just before we open up the art show, Prince Paints and Steel, down by the Wall of Death.

And then the grand finale on Saturday where we got all the winners coming in.

And going to see whose bike works the best.

In his new book, The Big Steal, Paul looks at the extraordinary goings-on in the empire of Sanjeev Gupta, an Indian board businessman who started his business career in England and rapidly expanded across the world, including, most notably for us, of course, in this country, Wyala.

Gupta made a name for himself as the so-called Man of Steel, a rescuer of distressed and dilapidated steel businesses, promising the world to the communities that depended on them.

He swanned into Wyala, promising to usher in a new era of investment in green steel and renewables.

It was intoxicating to locals and politicians alike, and a generally sycophantic media fell into line to sing the praises of the Miracle Man.

And Gupta is spending like a drunken sailor and buying steelworks all over the world, and he's spending hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars, billions of dollars, to buy up businesses that are losing money, that are generally on the brink of bankruptcy, and that their owners don't want because they can't make them pay.

So it's a recipe for disaster from the very beginning.

Paul Barry's with us, and we're talking about his new book, The Big Steel, about the life and times of Sanjeev Gupta, the man who said he was going to save Wyala.

That responsibility fell directly on your shoulders.

Before we talk about Steel and Stone, I was kind of curious if there are any other books books that you all recommend for any of our USACE colleagues or anyone listening that might be interested in history of 9-11?

Well, let me take a crack at that.

One, I think, fine book is the office recently published and updated history of the Corps of Engineers.

They started doing oral history interviews.

We eventually did about 60 oral history interviews, and those interviews, the stories and the drama, of those interviews forms a key element of the new display at the National Museum of the United States Army.

It's called Steel and Stone, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Response to September 11th.

So there was the people and the subject matter, and then there were those three-dimensional artifacts that my colleague Eric Reiner at the USAID's Curator talked about.
