statism

It's a form of statism.

We've touched on this before, and in future podcasts I'm gonna look in much more detail.

Statism is simply the belief the ultimate authority in the Earth is man, man via the state.

And man, being the source of his own, uh, truth, his own understanding of what's moral, of right and wrong, he seeks to seize control of civil government, and through force bring about his vision of utopia in the Earth.

And so we, uh, see, uh, in electing socialist mayors like in New York City and other places, this is a great threat to the Christian faith.

Reminds one of the reaction by socialists to the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, doesn't it? But I've said this before.

Statism is the idea that some ideas should be forced on people using violence, because that's what the state is.

It should then come as no surprise that people who believe in the state would think it's justified to resort to aggression themselves.

Of course, if you abridge their speech, they squeal like little piggies.

We do not have to borrow these old, defunct, defeated European ideas to have prosperity here.

Statism never brings prosperity.

And this idea that the left has been flirting with, you're seeing what's happening with it now.

They thought they were gonna borrow Europe's trick of using Islam to help them get greater control, and then Islam swallowed them up.

So their goal, they think, "Well, we're, we're gonna get government and use the power of government, in essence, to take from the productive and give to the unproductive," which is contrary directly to what the scripture, uh, says, as we will see.

Now, socialism is a form of statism.

Statism is a general term that includes socialism, democratic socialism, communism, Marxism, and various, uh, man-centered isms.

And, and, and statism is the belief that man, via the state, is the ultimate authority in the earth, that man, uh, via, uh, really those who, who have the power via, uh, through civil government, they are the source of law, the source of morality, the source of what's right.

They are the ones who know how to handle matters in the economy and know how to make sure that everybody, you know, uh, gets equal things.

There you go.

They attacked the, the Basilica of Statism.

Yeah.

Ah.

Civil libertarians will tell you, I don't want to be spied on.

Statists will say, well, you have no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place.

I don't know how many people feel that that's fair or accurate or ideal.

This is a very, very interesting question.
