Armenia's National Security Service said Azerbaijan's State Security Service informed it only three days later that Musayev was missing and could have illegally crossed into Armenia.

The circumstances of the shooting were described in greater detail by the victim's sister, Arpi Avedisian, who told Azatutyun that Musayev encountered Ani's two school-aged children after they returned home from school and found their front door forced open.
