Starfish Space

Um, so this is, seems more, much more in line with kind of the missions we were talking about with Astroscale last week, like the ELSA-M and the ADRES-J mission, where they're just trying to get more RPO capability out there just to have that technology available for a more sustainable constellation, which, uh, uh, more sustainable space presence, which I think makes sense with Iris Squared.

We've started to see it with PWSA, with, like, Starfish contracts, uh, to de-orbit PWSA satellites or service them.

I think this is an important feature for them to have as Iris Squared starts to get deployed.

So I see this as a really great announcement.

One of the interesting kind of underpinnings here is that we'd recently talked to Edge Aerospace that had partnered with Redwire Space, and they had actually talked about demoing with Infinite Orbits.

Um, so Redwire's actually kind of creeping up to be one of the winners here with this trend in that, you know, they've supplied their imagers to Starfish, to True Anomaly, and Infinite Orbits, and all those companies are seeing, uh, contracts appear for de-orbiting services, life extension services.

And in the background, Redwire, Redwire is building up their offerings to provide an entire suite of RPO solutions.

So I think this is also a great announcement for Redwire.

Redwire has a few cameras that they sell, and they're actually pretty popular when it comes to things like RPO technologies.

They've flown on True Anomaly and Starfish satellites, and they're basically just raw cameras.

So the cameras can get integrated, but the companies still need to have their own processing and compute for doing the attitude determination and approach controls.

The edge licensing gives them the next layer up, which gives them a computer that can actually do something with those imaging sensors.

And I think one of the most interesting new programs that we've started to see around our topic space is the Servicing Mobility and Logistics Group down at Patrick Space, Warspace, run by Colonel Karstetter, very much focused on this exact mission set.

They funded some of the Starfish de-orbit missions.

They funded Astroscale, very much in that same field.

And we've been working very closely with them on what that next mission set looks like.

right? And so it's been this thing that's always been talked about, right? We've always known servicing and robotic servicing of satellites was a thing.

We've seen newer capabilities come online, like Starfish and things like that, as boosting into orbit as a service.

But now it's actually finally becoming a thing that we see that's commonplace.

The mission will attempt the first removal of unprepared, uncooperative targets without docking fixtures.

Starfish Space also reached the final stage of the competition alongside Astroscale.

The five-year project marks Britain's first national active debris removal effort.

Both target satellites are fully passivated and lack any capture aids.
