Star Wars Insider

Yeah.

Star Wars Insider is a great example.

Star Wars Insider, one thing that I do most every issue, I never actually subscribed to it, but a lot of issues, they have short stories in both Legends and Canon.

Some of those, especially the older ones from the 90s and early 2000s, are really hard to track down.

But what they have done is they've released collections of Insider's best stories type thing.

And that doesn't have all of the Insider stories.

It has a lot of them.

And actually, sometime in the last year or two, Humble Bundle had a bundle of Star Wars Insider collections and other short story collections that I bought for like 20, 30 bucks and got a bunch of stuff as well.

Yeah.

For me, I remember like reading in a Star Wars magazine, like Star Wars Insider, like they were talking about it in 2002.

So the Star Wars community is obviously really amped up for Attack of the Clones, which is going to be releasing later that year.

So I'm home from missionary service.

But yeah, the C-3PO thing, I still...

Cannot believe, you know, I have a friend who works for the Star Wars Insider, and I said, hey, 400's coming up.

Can you help me? He's like, give me a few names you want to talk to.

I threw it out there, and I got an email the next day, and it was like, Mr. Molinero, this is Anthony Daniels, and a friend of mine said you might want to interview me, and I was just sitting there looking at my screen going, am I reading this right? And...

And, uh, so, uh, when that happened, we sat down with the Lucasfilm team and said, "You know, since George is getting back to doing Star Wars, and shooting on the new movies is gonna happen in a couple of years, it might behoove us to, uh, change the name back to the official Star Wars Fan Club, and change the name of the magazine, um, to, um, something other than the Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine.

And so we sat down and, uh, came up with the name the Star Wars Insider, and, uh, went with that, and started making our coverage, you know, maybe, uh, 75% Star Wars at that point.

And we had the special editions that came out, and we covered those.

And, um, did a big, big, many features on the special editions.

But, uh, but then, you know, word came around that he was getting started to shooting over in England, and, uh, that's when, uh, that's when everything just went crazy.

And so we, we went full-blown Star Wars, and the Star Wars Insider was born.

And we, uh, never looked back and just covered Star Wars 100% almost at that point.

And, uh, and that was great because, uh, I was ready.

We met very briefly, interviewed very briefly.

Could I have your ear for five minutes? It's for Star Wars Insider.

Oh, Star Wars Insider.

Yep.

Yep.

And then just from there, you know, Insider carried on.

I think when Star Wars in Concert or Star Wars The Musical Journey was at the O2 I covered that for StarWars.com and so that gave me a little foot in there when they started having blogs regularly in sort of 2012 2013 they kind of you know I was invited to do that um and it just kind of went on from there just little projects here and there the park works and and like right up to now with ILM and Skywalker Sound so it's yeah it's hopefully I'm doing a decent job it's not like I haven't got 30 people lined up behind everybody that's doing it if I was doing a lousy job I'm sure they'd tell me um after all this time I'd like to think they'll tell me um but uh yeah I've been very lucky um yeah that's where it started i would say probably that frank parisi interview in 2005 was the one that made it work

yeah and then i suppose just kind of go from the start to the very end i've got in my hand the last star wars insider insider with the foil lucasfilm fan club cover and you get to your your main sort of article and this is an interview with kathleen kennedy how does it feel to kind of round off that insider journey with an interview with kathleen

It's a very

famous cover of Star Wars Insider.

But I'm sure you know about this as well.

And I'm sure Star Wars Centralized Dan would love this.

He did all of the interior artwork for the Holonet news stuff during the lead up to Revenge of the Sith.

So in Star Wars Insider, there would be these in-universe updates of the Clone Wars battles happening.

And it would be tied in with the Dark Horse stuff or the multimedia initiative with Clone Wars.

And he always did the artwork for that.

This was like 1997.

I wanna say it was in maybe Star Wars Insider, and they showed this.

Like, oh, this, this I will always remember as being the very first image we ever see from Episode I.
