GenesisHOST

We talked about this last time, but Lucy is played by Ella Purnell, who has been in a ton of wonderfully nerdy things.
GenesisHOST
28:54
You may know her as Gwyn in Star Trek Prodigy, Jackie in Yellow Jackets, and Jinx in the Netflix Arcane series.
GenesisHOST
29:03
She's great.
GenesisHOST
29:03
She's in
Richie MorganGUEST
65:28
And then you've got Lower Decks.
Richie MorganGUEST
65:30
God knows Prodigy was after...
Mark DonaldsonHOST
65:34
Lower Decks is like post Voyager, isn't it? Yeah.
Mark DonaldsonHOST
65:36
And then Prodigy is a little bit later down the line post Voyager.
Mark DonaldsonHOST
65:41
And at the end of Prodigy is the start of the Picard timeline with all the fucking androids going nuts.
Richie MorganGUEST
65:47
Yeah.
Mark DonaldsonHOST
65:48
So it does all kind of tie together in a kind of weird Doctor Who wibbly wobbly fucking way.

honest.
Michael DismukeHOST
7:24
Mm-hmm.
Diana KengGUEST
7:24
Uh, so Lori and I met when we were covering Star Trek Prodigy.
Michael DismukeHOST
7:29
Okay.
Diana KengGUEST
7:29
And we were sitting in the green room of, the virtual green room-

daredevil and disney and them they it's a similar sort of thing yeah that they had the auditorium of five years before disney could do it the second disney could do something with daredevil they did
Joshua M. PattonGUEST
102:05
yeah i mean and again i i'm curious about how the merger plays into it because i know there is some stuff there but whether or not you know netflix why they didn't want new prodigy I don't know, but I know they wanted to keep Prodigy 1 and 2.
Joshua M. PattonGUEST
102:21
They wanted to keep Prodigy.
Joshua M. PattonGUEST
102:24
And the thing is, the reason that it left Prodigy is because they have to wait three years before they can put it back

on
Joshua M. PattonGUEST

Paramount+.
Joshua M. PattonGUEST
102:32
So whenever Prodigy left Netflix, count three years, and that's when Prodigy will show up on.
JayHOST
102:39
I don't know why it was taken off.
speaker_0HOST
27:07
So I want something to talk about.
speaker_0HOST
27:09
But if you think that was bad, try and watch Prodigy with a kid and explain him having to explain Voyager constantly.
speaker_0HOST
27:15
Why does that lady care about that man? Yeah, neurodiverse, gone, are extremely expensive, their own fault.
speaker_0HOST
27:27
and they shouldn't have been there because the Federation had never had contact with the Gorn until the episode where Kirk karate chops the Gorn and then throws the rock at him or gets the rock thrown at him the cast is great absolutely no complaints says Ian Stewart and I agree with you Jack Grime has asked do I play Star Trek Online no You guys have absolutely no idea how busy I am.

And they almost think it's a homage or something, you know, that it's showing love for the original series.
speaker_0HOST
57:19
And I'm like, no, it doesn't actually, what you're doing is stomping on the original series constantly.
speaker_0HOST
57:27
Power Ranger Donnie well the season 4 finale is my second strongest strange new episode of season 4 behind Orders of Magnitude and Orders of Magnitude wasn't a bad episode either but again it had really bad parts of it and parts that again just didn't make sense but it's not science fiction it needs to be better than science fiction the puppet episode is my weakest yeah I think most people agree with that um Chloe says, I enjoyed season three of Picard, Prodigy, Lorax, the first two seasons of Strange New Worlds.
speaker_0HOST
58:02
I was on a roller coaster of Strange New Worlds from the beginning.
EllieHOST
40:09
You know, some kids shows are great.
EllieHOST
40:10
Star Trek Prodigy.
EllieHOST
40:12
made for a younger audience, also suitable for an adult audience.
EllieHOST
40:16
But CBeebies is like, it's specifically for young children, for toddlers.
speaker_5HOST
46:55
And to be honest, under Kurtzman, they've done it again and again.
speaker_5HOST
46:59
I keep saying Prodigy was perceived really badly.
speaker_5HOST
47:03
It wasn't written badly.
speaker_5HOST
47:04
It wasn't made badly.

16 MINS LATER

speaker_5HOST
62:41
This doesn't sound like that to me.
speaker_5HOST
62:43
This really sounds like there's an awful lot of legacy characters in there, whereas maybe one or two would have been a bit of fan service.
speaker_5HOST
62:51
But actually, if you don't know the backstory of SG-1, would this series make sense? Is this a bit like Prodigy, whereas you don't know Voyager? It's actually big chunks of that series, doesn't really make sense.
speaker_5HOST
63:07
It was badly conceived from that point of view.
Jim MorehouseHOST
2:35
There are no wrong answers at Trek Ranks.
Jim MorehouseHOST
2:38
This show is about sharing the things we love about Star Trek, and we love it all from TOS to TNG, straight to the Enterprise, the Kelvin Timeline, now Discovery, Picard, Strange New Worlds, Short Trek, Lower Decks, Prodigy, and Starfleet Academy.
Jim MorehouseHOST
2:51
It's all fair game here on the Trek Ranks Podcast.
Jim MorehouseHOST
2:53
Ship,

Alex PerryGUEST
31:43
That's
Jim MorehouseHOST
31:43
a good pick.
Alex PerryGUEST
31:45
And the episode I picked is Star Trek Prodigy Season 1, Episode 16, Preludes, which is the episode that explains why he constantly refers to himself in the third person and constantly says his name over and over again throughout the course of the show.
Alex PerryGUEST
32:00
Because when he's... uh woken up by the maintenance bot on the telluride sleeper ship it will only acknowledge him if he starts by saying his full name so he and it's implied that he is like the only one awake for quite a long period of time and so i think it just becomes second nature to him to uh to speak that way
GenesisHOST
30:24
Lucy is played by Ella Purnell, who has been in a ton of wonderfully nerdy things.
GenesisHOST
30:32
You may know her as Gwyn in Star Trek Prodigy, Jackie in Yellowjackets, and Jinx in the Netflix Arcane series.
VirvadaHOST
30:44
Yeah, Jinx, uh, bothered the shit out of me, but she was acted very well, so well done, Lucy.
VirvadaHOST
30:50
Lucy.
StefanHOST
17:40
And we know this eventually leads to Wesley reappearing again.
StefanHOST
17:43
We see him in Star Trek Prodigy.
StefanHOST
17:45
We see him in Star Trek Picard.
StefanHOST
17:48
He's currently heavily featured in a book I'm reading.
StefanHOST
18:16
Let's talk about Some trivia.
StefanHOST
18:18
So as most of us probably know, this was Wil Wheaton's final appearance in the TNG series.
StefanHOST
18:24
But like I said, we'll see him later in Prodigy and Picard, Lower Decks.
StefanHOST
18:28
He's in there briefly.
