God, been a while since I've looked up a bloody phone number.

Did you have to pay to get the white or yellow pages delivered? Because they just appeared in a plastic bag one day.

So just some logistics to get those out of the way.

Firstly, you travel to Stanthorpe to access Girraween National Park.

It's about two and a half to three hours from Brisbane, depending which side you're coming from, and you're going via Cunningham's Gap and Warwick.

There's a choice of places to stay around Stanthorpe and it really depends on what you're hoping to do while you're out there.

If you've come purely for the hiking, then I would suggest that you actually want to go south of Stanthorpe, probably about a half an hour's drive towards Tenterfield because all of the main trails are accessed south.

But it will isolate you a little bit from some of the other activities in the area and there's heaps to do.

So if you want to mix it up, you could stay in Stanthorpe itself.

That's where probably the most accommodation is and the most accessible.

We cut a deal with apple growers there, so we put in an apple press early on, which helped cover the cost.

So like today, we probably crushed 6,000 tonne of apples coming out of Stanthorpe for apple juice.

So they got that underway pretty quickly.

But it was interesting because I was watching what was happening out of the Griffith market which the orange orchards were shrinking and getting pulled out.
