Stanley Mann

So Mark Lester is not a stranger to us.

Firestarter was written by Stanley Mann, whose, I guess his other big credit was he wrote Conan the Destroyer.

And I think he wrote the second Omen film, I want to say.

And of course-

But Lester, he's now on board and Carpenter is kicked to the curb.

And when Lester comes onto the project, he asks for a rewrite.

So Universal complies and they commission Stanley Mann to do a rewrite.

And Mann stated that actually his intention with the rewrite was to actually bring ...

He also directed Class of 1984, Commando, Armed and Dangerous, Showdown, and Little Tokyo, among others.

Writer Stanley Mann.

He also wrote Rapture, Breaking Point, Circle of Iron, Damien, Omen 2, Eye of the Needle, Conan the Destroyer, and Hannah's War, among others.

This is based on the novel by Stephen King.

I mean, his career was pretty much over come the 90s.

He didn't adapt, but his 80s run, dude, is solid for just a director for hire, man.

Yeah, yeah, and he brought on, when he got attached, when they kicked off Carpenter, he brought on Stanley Mann.

They both they worked on the screenplay together, but the screenplay that they worked on, they pretty much discarded Carpenter's screenplay altogether and just adapted the book.

Thanks so much for listening to this episode of Forgotten Video Store.

And a big shout out to Anthony Greville-Bell, Stanley Mann, and John Cohn, whose story for the film Theater of Blood inspired this week's episode.

I'm afraid that by listening to this haunted episode, you've invited

a horrifying ghost into your home.
