So for an easy comparison, they're assessed in the same way.

But as we say, the EPC is just one of the outputs of doing a SAP calculation, the SAP being Standard Assessment Procedure, which is the requirement, the only method to demonstrate building regulation compliance when building a dwelling.

They're sometimes interchanged just because it's the more obvious output that comes out of a SAP calculation.

But there are other things that go into a building regulation calculation which we'll cover.
