Stan Jones

Coulter's voice sounds as though it drifted in from another century.

The song itself was written by Stan Jones, the same Western songwriter who gave us Ghost Riders in the Sky.

But Corb Lund gives us a considerably less romantic picture of the West and the work of the cowboy in S. Lazy H., a song that reflects on agricultural estate planning.

Built from a story he's seen repeated across the West, a ranch that's been in a family for generations gets divided among its heirs.

So I did get a couple of bonus information pieces in here, though, that are quite interesting.

Actor Stan Jones, who played the expedition member Seneca Howland, and he's one of the three that split.

Mm-hmm.

He was not just an actor.
