Stained Class

A ticket to ride?

Vinyl 2, Stained Class.

It has the greatest Judas Priest song in the world.

Better by you, better than me.

Thank you very much indeed.

[laughs] So, uh, this, uh, this round of the Priest family madness, we have Stained Class going up against Defenders of the Faith.

Two fantastic albums, two albums that are in my top five.

Only six years separate these records.

... just piss poor production.

So, um, that's unfortunate.

We'll start with Stained Class, uh, Priest's fourth studio album.

First of two records released by Priest in 1978, along with Killing Machine, of course.

And this guy goes, "You like Sabbath?" And he saw the Rush album.

He's like, "Did you ever hear of Judas Priest?" I'm like, "Yeah, I've heard of them, man." I go, "I don't really..." He goes, he goes, "You gotta get this, the Stained Class record." And I didn't, I got Hemispheres, but it was one of those impulse buys the next time.

And I was like, I'd like to thank that dude because he was the one that, like, you, you'll love it, man.

If you love Sabbath and you love Rush, you're gonna love Judas Priest.

Um, another highly influential record, uh, in the middle of the three most influential heavy metal records in history, I think.

You know, right after another, Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, and Stained Class right in a row.

Three highly, highly influential records.

Um, but [coughs] excuse me.

This is in my top five as well.

Um, Priest has a lot of albums that, to me, have almost half and half bullshit and really good songs.

These top five, Stained Class, Sin After Sin, Sad Wings, Firepower, Painkiller, they're all almost perfect albums, or if not perfect.

Um, this album is no d- this album is fucking great.

So I've chosen three, like an all-time classic, and then like one I think is underrated, and then one that I think is like kind of like a modern-ish album.

that I want to so I've tried to go like at different parts of my personal journey excellent so that would be kind of impossible for you to pick like I think and vice versa for you like if you've done something similar I could like I could hazard some guesses yeah but I'd I'd be like they could just as easily I could just as easily get all of them yeah and I could just as easily get none exactly however in your case you have absolutely gotten one my first album is Judas Priest Stained Class and this is the underrated one yeah

This is the one no one knows about.

No, so anyone who's listened to more than 10 minutes of this podcast will know that Judas Priest are one of our absolute favorites.
