St. Louis Public Schools have pushed back its consolidation timeline again, and a new task force in North St. Louis County is trying to find a new path forward for public school districts that are facing tight budgets and declining enrollment.

The people aren't here, the communities aren't the same, so we can't go back.

We have to design for what exists today.

Officials worry that even if the courts clarify things in time, voters will still be confused about which candidates will be on their ballot.

St. Louis Public Schools has pushed back its timeline for its consolidation plan a second time.

The Board of Education voted yesterday to delay the district's final proposal to create more time to contact and gather feedback from families.

That's the whole definition.

But St. Louis approved a data center this year with conditions, with community benefits framework attached, 200 permanent jobs, $27 million in the first year city tax revenue, $33 million to the St. Louis public schools, and the president of the Missouri AFL-CIO stood up and called it a generational win for St. Louis.

Lancaster signed an agreement other counties are being told to copy.

In Oregon, my state, Oregon passed a law saying if your facility uses 20 megawatts or more, you cover your share of the grid costs.

I want to ask you about a real tough audit of the St. Louis public schools by the state auditor, Scott Fitzpatrick, who last week gave the schools in St. Louis the lowest rating possible, a poor rating.

After two years of auditing the schools, he found that officials didn't sell property following state law.

They didn't run tornado drills.

SLPS will host the first of three future-ready listening sessions this evening at the Missouri History Museum.

Students, families, staff and community members are invited to attend and learn more about a proposal to close 14 schools by next year.
