St. George Spirits

St. George Spirits

Founded in 1982, St. George Spirits is America’s original craft distillery. We were founded as a dedicated brandy distillery, but over the last 40+ years have grown into one of most prolific and innovative craft distilleries in the nation. Today our portfolio includes a range of single malt whiskeys, gins, vodkas, brandies, liqueurs, absinthe, and other spirits. We have remained locally owned throughout our history, but our commitment to our craft has resulted in an international reputation for excellence—as well as 10 James Beard Foundation Award nominations, membership in the Whisky Magazine Hall of Fame, and induction into the Spirit Journal Hall of Fame.www.stgeorgespirits.com

I'm your host, Eli Brown, and in today's episode, we are speaking with a five-time James Beard Foundation nominee for outstanding wine, spirits, or beer production, a founding figure in the American single malt category, and the producer of my favorite gin of all time, the master distiller at St. George Spirits, Lance Winters.

St. George Spirits was one of the first 20 small batch distilleries in the United States following Prohibition and is still a driving force behind the culture of American spirits.

Their terroir gin, my favorite of all time, is by far the gin I am most likely to recommend to folks who want something new, as well as most likely to reach for on the back bar when I am building a cocktail and am in need of an ingredient that captures the place I call home.

From his career as a nuclear engineer on nuclear submarines to his forays in producing a custom drink for the one and only Anthony Bourdain, this conversation truly warmed my heart.
