Grew up in India.

The first time I saw a computer was when I was 13 years old.

I saw Sesame Street.

I was a little too old for it, but it blew my mind.

Watching Elmo running around the screen was how I got fascinated by computers.

So how does that work?

Access on hosted by Jonathan Mosen and I read the transcript and I heard about you know lumen and I was like, oh man I don't you want to try it but like then I was like now I'll wait till it comes out and then I saw it on the App Store and I jumped on it and Your voice came on and did the intro greeting and I did not notice it until I downloaded it and you Instructed me how to set it up and it instructed, you know with you recorded I guess and so before we get into the demo I What is the advantage of using this over say other apps that you currently have like Gmail and other mail apps, and then you can jump straight into the demo and let us hear what it does.

Yeah, absolutely.

I think just to take a little bit of a step back, I think in the accessibility world, we're all used to using screen readers and other products.

that honestly have done a really good job for people historically.

I know lots of people who use screen readers, and it's done a great job.

But for someone like me, who was losing his vision in my 30s, honestly, it was quite hard to pick up.

It wasn't something that I could just learn in a day and become a pro tomorrow and just start using my emails again, I felt it was quite challenging.

but if you send an email currently you have to select a contact or ask your siri uh to select the email the contact in your email uh does can lumen do that or is that being currently worked on because i know that you said earlier that apple is kind of tricky to get other apps integrated because of its restrictions

But where did this idea come from? And more about, you know, what got you to that point?

Yeah, you know, without boring you and the audience on too much of my life story, but just to give you kind of the pivotal moments of kind of what happened, like I, you know, the first time I saw a computer is when I when the first thing I saw on a computer was a video game.

And I still remember I was like 12 years old living in India and it blew my mind.

It was the most magical thing that I'd seen.

And I've also been a really big fan of Arthur Clarke, who has this incredible line that, you know, when a sufficiently advanced technology almost seems indistinguishable from magic.

And that kind of concept has stuck in my head, which is I'm interested in like, I just get attracted to technologies and products that feel like magic to the user.

It's like you said, it's obviously not magic.
