You know, I started playing bluegrass when I was in high school back in 2003.

I was in punk bands before that, but then all of a sudden I went to a foghorn string band square dance, and my blood started dancing.

It woke up something deep inside of me that's very primal and connected to my ancestry of this music.

And I got obsessed, and I learned every foghorn tune there was, and... started a band to recreate that feeling, which is traditional old timey bluegrass, um, but really based on old time.

Yeah, yeah, I was living in Portland at the time, and the square dance scene, it was very strong there, thanks to a website called Bubba Guitar, and sort of the people behind that, and It basically was just all about bringing together bluegrass jams, old-time jams, any kind of traditional sort of happening.
