That is why basic goods on visa are often noticeably more expensive than they are in the mainland city of Split.

OK, so you just paid your ITEUS, you've accepted the high prices, and you're standing on the mainland in Split.

How do you actually get across the water to this remote outpost?

Because there is no airport.

Think of the ferry system in August like a high stakes game of musical chairs.

Oh, totally.

But instead of walking around a circle of plastic chairs in a living room, you are standing on a blazing hot concrete dock in Split, surrounded by thousands of other tourists dragging heavy suitcases.

She could move somewhere because in Germany it's not so easy to find an apartment when you just left one.

So from Germany to Split in Croatia and then from Split to Sarajevo.

And

then we spent six months here.

Let's do it.

So just to get there, on the catamaran from Split to Coachella Town, you were looking at $25 to $35 for a one-way seat.

Just for the boat.

That's entirely accurate.

The best way is that passenger catamarans straight into Korcula town.

From Split, it takes two to three hours, maybe stopping at HVAR or Milna.

From Dubrovnik, it's just two hours.

And it's highly accessible from the super popular and wildly expensive Croatian coastline.

You have Dubrovnik and Split right there on the Adriatic coast.

Right.

They're just a few hours away.

But then 11 a.m. hits.

It is an invasion.

Coaches from Dubrovnik, Split, Sarajevo, and Medjugorje all converge on the city limits at the exact same time.

And the town center is tiny, right?

Old Roman temples were also repurposed as churches, including the Temple of Augustus and Livia in Vienne, France, and the Pantheon in Rome.

The Cathedral of St. Domnius in Split, Croatia was originally built as a mausoleum for the Emperor Diocletian who had ordered the last, largest, and bloodiest persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire.

Many churches were built and continue to be built in the Basilica style, which consists of a central nave and aisles with a raised platform at the opposite end of the door.

Early churches had a canopy with curtains that could be closed at specific points during the consecration of the Eucharist.

When I went on my first and only OE a couple of years ago, our group... had kind of grown up post-COVID and are all around the world, they're everywhere.

It is often very cool then, but there is little shelter from the noontide ardor.
