Adam R. SteigertGUEST
29:09
We've shot multiple films there to connect it.
Adam R. SteigertGUEST
29:12
Before Michael passed, and I just want to say this briefly, talking about doing a reboot to Gore.
Adam R. SteigertGUEST
29:19
Now Gore is like a feature film that I did like one of my first films and we were in real talks to go back to it as the next project to do a Gore film and the Samantha Romero character was part of that and all that and unfortunately passed and we didn't get to finish it but I'm just so happy Norm took over the role of Gore and at least gave him one more time with it because Michael always talked to me about really loving the role of William Sanders and the whole gore mythology because he was like the Dr. Loomis type character and it was just an amazing thing for him to experience.
Adam R. SteigertGUEST
29:57
He actually played it like five or six times in various films that we've done.
Adam R. SteigertGUEST
30:01
So this is not his first time playing this character, but it was really cool to kind of give him that werewolf moment that he wanted.
Jordan HoffmanHOST
4:01
Hmm.
Matt SingerHOST
4:01
Splatstick.
Matt SingerHOST
4:02
Have you heard of splatstick?
Jordan HoffmanHOST
4:04
I have now.
Matt SingerHOST
4:08
It's splatter.
Jordan HoffmanHOST
4:09
Yeah.
Matt SingerHOST
4:10
Splatstick.
Jordan HoffmanHOST
4:12
Yeah.
Matt SingerHOST
3:22
Okay, spoiler alert, that's Jordan's recommendation, but stay tuned for more.
Matt SingerHOST
3:27
And, ooh, a Stephen King movie game.
Matt SingerHOST
3:33
You have to say your line if you want
Jordan HoffmanHOST
3:34
to do that.
Matt SingerHOST
3:58
Plus, we have a listener request, and this is a good one, a listener request for a lesser known horror comedy.
Matt SingerHOST
4:07
Maybe a splatstick comedy.
Matt SingerHOST
4:10
movie, Splatstick.
Matt SingerHOST
4:11
Have you heard of Splatstick? I have now.
Eric L. SanchezGUEST
41:27
I know that much.
Eric L. SanchezGUEST
41:28
If you're a Splatter fan, then...
Eric L. SanchezGUEST
41:31
Tom Waits is in this shit.
Eric L. SanchezGUEST
41:32
I didn't remember Tom
David GregoryGUEST
7:25
So basically, that was kind of the starting point.
David GregoryGUEST
7:29
There are s- several horror movies set in theaters, so we have some of those, like The Wizard of Gore, both versions of The Wizard of Gore, Theatre of Death with Christopher Lee.
David GregoryGUEST
7:38
But the other thing is, is that around that time in Paris, one of the things that I concentrate on in the film is that the, the decadent style, uh, that was in cabarets and theater and art in Paris at the time is very much like something that carried over into what we now know as the horror genre.
David GregoryGUEST
7:58
And so we've done a ton of extra mini documentaries to surround and support the reasons why we have certain films in, in the box.
David GregoryGUEST
9:25
Cat Byers, and she gives the whole history of the morgue in Paris and how it was a tourist attraction, and that is an extra on Strangler's Morgue starring Tod Slaughter.
David GregoryGUEST
9:34
So you see what I mean? It kind of just opens the, the, the gates to just the amount of stuff that really is connected to this time in Paris and the kind of entertainment that was, the pinnacle of which was the Grand Guignol.
Aaron AubuchonHOST
9:46
I just wanna mention real quick, and then I'll let somebody else talk, but you mentioned that fascination you get as a kid, and you mentioned you have The Wizard of Gore on there, and I smiled because it was The Wizard of Gore and an article that I read about it when I was 13 that introduced me to the concept of the Grand Guignol and made me...
Aaron AubuchonHOST
10:02
I've had a lifelong interest because I loved The Wizard of Gore the first time I saw it, and I always tell people, like, if you don't know what the Grand Guignol is, The Wizard of Gore isn't a bad place to start exploring it.
Willy WebbornGUEST
46:07
Yeah.
ZachHOST
46:07
Splatstick, I think the term is.
ZachHOST
46:09
Ah.
Willy WebbornGUEST
46:10
Yeah, I'll take that.
TrevorPANELIST
14:07
It came out almost simultaneously with Evil Dead 2.
TrevorPANELIST
14:12
And they both kind of rewrote the book on what eventually became Splatstick.
TrevorPANELIST
14:18
And this movie was not given the respect it should have, in my opinion, as being such a forefather to that genre.
TrevorPANELIST
14:27
But both those movies hit at the same time.
