After the doctor gave me Nebivolol and then Ramitril and Spiractin.

I took it for one year.

After one year, the doctor stopped it.

And let me be clear, there's a lot of reasons why young women go on oral contraceptives that are not just about contraception, and it has to be whatever is going to be sanity inducing for you and your child or your loved one.

It's very often paired with a drug that I used to prescribe a lot in cardiology called Aldactone or spironolactone, which is a potassium sparing diuretic, and it's a medication that blocks the androgen receptors directly in the skin.

So I prescribed it for different reasons, but we can use it for dermatologic conditions as well, and these two get paired together, oral contraceptives with Aldactone or spironolactone often for a specific reason.

But spironolactone can't be used safely during pregnancy and certainly not with someone trying to conceive, so pairing with reliable birth control becomes very important.

There's one more detail worth knowing for a teenager specifically.

If you're not trying to get pregnant, oftentimes birth control pills can be really helpful for acne and hair growth.

You can go on a medication called Spironolactone, which is like a mild diuretic that can be really helpful.

there's topical creams and hair removal and things that can really help now.

So I think that there's a lot more options than there used to be.
