Uh, and then on top of that, there were these covert intelligence gathering missions which he went on, which I didn't find out about till much later.

Uh, al- almost, you know, before he died, I didn't even know he was involved in that kind of thing, right? And so there was that element also.

Yeah.

Um, so yeah, I think that that's, that's funny, but it is hard starting with these guys because like, it's just so funny that it all revolves around sort of like the, you know, gossip of the SAS in Australia and like Ray

Hadley and Alan Jones, like Jesus Christ.

The cartoon depicted Hastie as a traitor for evidence he gave during a defamation trial brought by former commando Ben Roberts-Smith.

Hastie was a captain in the Special Air Service Regiment and says he supports the soldiers who spoke up against alleged war crimes.

Anybody that hides behind a cartoon and goes after a veteran and calls them a traitor, a paranoid traitor, and a washed-up gutless maggot, I have to say you're a bloody maggot yourself, and you're a coward.

And Hastie's right.

And if they own it, step out into the house or outside the house, I don't really care, use parli- parliamentary privilege or don't, and explain why I and other veterans, and indeed serving members of the ADF who think war crimes are wrong, are traitors to their country.

Hastie, who was a captain in the Special Air Service Regiment and served alongside Roberts-Smith in Afghanistan, was subpoenaed to give evidence by Nine Entertainment, which was defending its reporting of war crimes allegations.

Roberts-Smith was subsequently charged with five counts of war crime murder and has indicated he will plead not guilty.

Three people have been arrested in a raid of the Brisbane headquarters of the powerful Construction Union.

And people would say, and when he visited me in my house, he had never told me this before, but he had brought all the documentation, you know, orders, tickets, pictures.

And he was sent to Australia as a liaison officer during the Vietnam War, attached to the Australian SAS.

And then he's in Vietnam with the Australian SAS.

so that the British could have some officers in that war actually experiencing it on the ground.

So this is probably went back to, you know, the Spartans and the Persians were probably sending liaison officers on these excursions because it's really important to learn this.

We've done a couple of debriefs on all things war crimes and it's a red hot topic but we've hit pause on that for a while because – A lot of it's going through court now, so it's started to heat up in the courtroom and there's a lot of things going on in the background that we can't report on because it's all trial and pre-trial stuff, so we can't talk about it.

But a lot of people say to me, fuck, you talk some shit about some real fucking – real experienced SAS veterans, are there any good stories of what the SAS have done overseas that no one's said before? And there's podcasts come out.

I'm looking here.

There's a thousand books that have been written about different things that happened in Afghanistan.

And they found the piece of shit.

And he was on the Afghan-Pakistan border.

So the SAS that were over there in country... and I hope I'm not getting this too wrong for the boys that were there, had prepared everything.

They'd got their parachutes prepped to do a free fall insertion into that location to shoot that cunt in the fucking head under ROE 429 Alpha.
