Speak Mandarin Campaign

So here again, the different provinces, different county of the Teochew area, they call they address, they speak differently, but of the same meaning.

I mean, of course, one of the controversy over the Dear You movie was that a lot of the younger Singaporeans cannot understand the Teochew anymore, even the Teochews themselves, because of the Speak Mandarin campaign.

I mean, you lived through that campaign and I lived through as well.

What is your experience and what do you think about this issue? Is there any way that we can bring Teochew back now to the younger generation?

But to completely forget or so-called like, you know, today's trend, we are speaking English, we are speaking Mandarin.

I think it's a What do you think of this? I do understand the criticisms of the Speak Mandarin campaign policy.

But I also think part of the reason why we are not speaking a lot of or understand a lot of Teochew, Hokkien, whatever it is among the younger people is because we ourselves have made a choice.
