Spanish Steps

Uh, and um, you know, I just, I went, I was back in Rome like three years ago with my wife.

We couldn't get within 20 feet of the Trevi Fountain or the Spanish Steps.

I mean, tourism in the last 15 years has gone through the roof.

Everything's crowded.

But when I was there in 2001 I believe it was, our hotel was 100 yards from the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and there was nobody there.

So we kinda had Rome to ourselves and one of the cool things was they set up a special thing for, uh, Mary-Kate and Ashley and a g- group of us to go into the Sistine Chapel 10 minutes before it opened.

Wow.

It's, uh, like you turn one corner, you're like, oh, there's that famous statue.

And oh, there's the Spanish steps.

But like, I couldn't get a grasp of what I was looking at.

And we went on this tour, this Vespa tour with sidecars, which I highly recommend.

Oh, there's the Colosseum.

All right, there's the Vatican.

Ah, there's the Spanish Steps.

Like then I could get out of the ground level, get to higher ground, and I could get a bigger picture of what it looked like.

I asked ChatGPT what was close to the Trevi Fountain because it was still early in the day.

And ChatGPT told me the Spanish Steps.

So that's where we ended.

Well, I'm about to climb the Spanish Steps.

Dennis opted out and said, why don't you go up and take some pictures? So I'm the one who has to go up and climb it.

We just actually asked ChatGPT, as we're outside the Trevi Fountain, what else is nearby? because we did our little tour today and had a bit of lunch.

And now we're here.

It was a short little walk from there.

Just don't give them reasons.

you're not allowed to sit on the Spanish steps in Rome.

You can't sit there.

You can't eat there.

Again, you have a lot of people in an area that's pretty and historic and that's why they're there, but those people aren't from there and they're acting poorly.

Now you have a lot of damage that can happen.

Also, a lot of alcohol can add to some poor choices, like people throwing e-scooters down the Spanish Steps.

and damaging the steps or, you know, I don't know anybody on them.

All right.

Well, we went to the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the, the Vati- Vatican City, and, um, uh, the, the, the Pantheon all on the first day.

And, you know, you can hear me-

We've never stayed there.

We always stay at this little inn near the Spanish Steps, but I'm staying.

Right, so it's like, it's sort of like the Spanish Stairs in Rome.
