Spaniel

Because I go beating on a local family shoot with my Spaniel family.

Although he's very old now, so I think he might have to retire fully this year.

Last year, he just did one day and it almost finished him off.

I love that stuff.

Whenever I hear that sound out here in rural New England, it means that the Amazon man is here and the Spaniels are about to go crazy because he always brings treats.

So that's what that beeping sound consists of.

Um, I heard a story about that the other day when, you know I've got Alice the Spaniel, and she-

... she, yeah, she is one of those fancy, gorgeous dogs, not a rescue like yours.

It's about being calm and consistent would be the first thing I think when you're training a dog.

Don't be over-exciting and over-stimulating your dogs, particularly if it's a Spaniel.

And be very black and white with your training, so be like your children really.

If you say yes, mean it.

I was like, "You're right.

That was a huge fail." [laughs] So English Setters are believed to be crosses of old Spaniels and Pointer breeds, probably a cross of the Spanish Pointer, Large Water Spaniel, and Springer Spaniel.

At the time, they were known as a Setting Spaniel.

The word Spaniel at the time just meant from Spain.

It didn't-

... necessarily denote breed or hunting type.

So I was like, right.

And then they actually nicknamed me Spaniel because I was just like hunting the ball and I couldn't stay in one place.

And now I have a cock Spaniel, funny enough.

But yeah, basically, then I went to OAs and they were like, you're a forward.

And I was like, what? That's so weird to me.

So

again, following on from five to six years ago, I always wanted, my dream dog was a liver and white Cocker Spaniel.

It was one that I've always dreamed of.

A Springer, I like, but I feel like they're too big.

So a lot of FaceTimes, pictures, information back and forth.

Yeah.

And eight weeks later, I travelled down to get the wee Spaniel.

So with a working dog comes it needs to work yes so I went down and I fell in love with this little Spaniel and his name was Harley and ever since I got him he was my best friend
