Space opera

But I kind of thought that was like... barbarella reference but did you find anything about that I mean she's she's a girl so it's like okay yes it

actually is a barbarella is that what so it's it's in that same vein so it's so bikini bikini armor which is what she's wearing it's like armor that also is a bikini is a very popular um space opera fiction uh trope so think think um yeah princess leia right yep is star wars is a space opera same kind of thing yeah same kind of thing right yeah um barbarella is another example of that um Also as Flash Gordon.

So it was a signature mark of science fiction costumes wherever there was a female lead who also had sex appeal.

Hmm.

This is like a combo of literally Ultra 7, which is a continuation of Ultraman or a sequel series, and then Space Opera.

And

Space Opera bikinis.

This reminds me...

But they've just recently done a Kickstarter for their brand new 5E...

And they've also just reached almost $10 million, I believe.

Oof.

I've seen ads for it and stuff kicking around, so I'm aware of it.

And never discount the fact that you can make a completely awesome RPG, put a lot of time and effort into it, but that's not going to sell it better than an anime neon miasma just barfed out in an introduction that is ADHD on crack.

I mean, obviously, it looks like it's not what I wish Spelljammer could have been, but it definitely would be if I was playing within a fifth edition and I was looking for a space opera or a space version of that rule set.

On one hand, you are reading 37 pages of legally required, rigorous, granular risk factors about, you know, supply chain bottlenecks and launchpad regulations.

And right next to it, you are reading a golden age space opera manifesto about harnessing the power of a star to prevent human extinction.

If we connect this to the bigger picture, the structural problem is that grand civilizational narrative and generally accepted accounting principles are fundamentally incompatible.

Right.

It was his property, but somehow, um, I guess he ends up selling it to De Laurentiis and definitely not to Lucas.

Uh, And, you know, this kind of reminds me of, this is, when I was taking like film genres as a class, and you're talking about film genres, a genre that I think came about after I had that class, I'll put it this way, is the genre of a space opera.

And this is a space opera.

Well, so how would you define, what are some things when you think about a space opera, what are some things that, because, you know, I, like I said, you think of film war, detective films, uh, um and and this in a sense we've already done this we did battle beyond the stars which is a space opera we've done star wars which is a space opera yes would you what are some of the things when you think of a space opera what are some of the things that you you know you think of a film noir you're going to have people smoking coffees you know uh dark streets uh glistening alleys what are some of the things you think of when you think well you know
