Southern Miss Lady Eagles women's basketball

The Golden Eagles will play a couple of exhibition games.

I think the Lady Eagles have an exhibition game.

as well which is probably a good thing used to be you had to have those inner squad scrimmages now you can play against another opponent but the prospects look pretty good both the golden eagles and the lady eagles this year

yeah certainly we're excited about the opportunity and what's in front for both programs i think you and i've talked a little bit about you know, both rosters have a lot of new faces and, um, that's, that's kind of the world we live in, especially in basketball these days.

Um, but, but I think, you know, our, our both programs, both coaches have done a good job of addressing needs and putting together rosters that can go compete in this league.

They'll take on Houston Christian tomorrow in their final exhibition game.

The Lady Eagles, I think, are playing tonight over at Reed Green Coliseum, having an exhibition game tonight.

What's an

exhibition game?

She was named to the all-Sunbelt third team on the preseason poll.

The Lady Eagles have an exhibition game next week against East Texas Baptist.

That's a home game at 6 p.m. And then their season tips off November 2nd against Mississippi College.

So that's on the women's side.

Missy Bilderback joins us now on the phone.

Coach Bilderbach, do we call them the Lady Eagles or are they the Eagles?

I think, I think either is great.

I think golden Eagles, lady Eagles, um, you know, women's basketball.

So yeah, I think, I think we get called a lot of different things and, uh, lady Eagles has always been a tradition of coach K and, uh, Coach Joy Lee, so we'll keep it at the Lady Eagles.

That's funny, because when I'm at home, I get called a lot of different things, too.

Yes, but Lady isn't one of them.

That seems to start earlier and earlier every year.

We're gonna visit a little bit with Missy Bilderback, head coach of our Lady Eagles, who I guess is in her second year, but boy, what a great job she's done at kinda getting that program headed in the right direction.

Yeah.

Missy certainly, um, is doing good things.

I don't know if there have been any changes or not, but, uh, you always attract some of the best, uh, young assistant coaches in the country.

Yeah, yeah.

We've, we obviously, we've had an opportunity to, um, you know, retain, you know, Coach Lauren Pittman, Coach Lauren Gross that are former Lady Eagles, um, uh, Coach Jonathan Williams, um, and, and then Coach Mac Garner.

You know, um, they're all back with us.
