Southern Downs Region

The very moist environments combining with a surface trough and the upper level instability is producing heavy to intense rainfall through parts of the southeast this morning.

There are severe weather warnings in places for parts of the Scenic Rim, the Southern Downs, the Lockyer Valley, Moreton Bay, Somerset, Toowoomba and Sunshine Coast Council areas, where slow-moving thunderstorms have dropped more than 150 millimetres in three hours.

Now, parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and the South East Coast forecast districts are also on storm watch and heavy rainfall is continuing through parts of Moreton Bay.

And that is where we will start today.

Now, as of around about half past 11, those severe thunderstorms are pretty slow moving.

They may lead to flash flooding.

And they're currently detected around about Cunningham's Gap for those in the Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, Lockyer Valley, Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Toowoomba and Brisbane City Council areas.

The thunderstorms are forecast to affect Oakington, Moogara and Maryvale by around about half past 12 and the Dagula range by 10 past 1.
