South Mountain

One witness spotted Snallygaster eggs around Crampton's Gap.

It may dwell among the South Mountain caves.

Eggs and caves, huh? Where's St.

George when we need him?

Old Hundred was played by the Marine Band.

Then Mr. Everett arose, and stood a moment in silence, regarding the battlefield and the distant beauty of the South Mountain Range.

For nearly two hours, he reviewed the funeral customs of Athens, spoke of the purposes of war, presented a detailed account of the three days' battle, offered tribute to those who died on the battlefield, and reminded his audience of the bonds which are common to all Americans.

Upon the conclusion of his address, a hymn was sung.

Now, if I don't butcher her name, 'cause y'all know how I am with some names, but Madeline Vinton Dahlgren, she wrote a book in 1882.

It was called South Mountain Magic.

This book documented things going on in this Appalachian environment, and of course, it's already got a lot of these ghost stories, and strange sightings go back hundreds to thousands of years.

If we wanted to, you could look it up and you could see that it even starts with those Native Americans that were first living in the Americas.

We actually have one called the Snarly Yow-

[laughs]

... of South Mountain.

Yow, like Y-O-W.
