South Downs National Park

Well, first off, I want to, Swing over to this little piece here.

Down in the South Downs over in the UK, South Downs National Park is going to be introducing the European glowworm.

They're hoping to boost the beetles numbers, which I presume has gone by kind of the wayside, similar to fireflies here in North America.

South Downs gained dark sky reserve status back in 2016.

It's turned from a kind of harbour city into somewhere that's really come alive in terms of art.

But the main thing is you are then perfectly poised to take either the North Downs way or indeed wander through the South Downs National Park.

And you would not believe, considering you're in one of the most densely populated parts of Europe, that there is so much natural beauty.

Then, of course, you have to stop in Brighton.

A panel found the officers' actions, as well as those of two former colleagues, amounted to gross misconduct.

Eaton College is being criticised after unveiling plans to build a new town on greenbelt land bordering the South Downs National Park.

The North Barnes Farm development would see up to 3,000 houses built over 25 years.

Locals warned the town would wipe out the rural parish of East Chiltington in East Sussex.

It's a real depth of history.

I left the NT and then went to work for a beautiful museum, living history museum called Chiltern Open Air Museums, which is in another area, much like Jane Austen's house is just on the edge of the South Downs National Park.

This was an area called the Chiltern, which is another area of outstanding natural beauty.

And that was wonderful.

Designated in 2010, it's the UK's newest national park and its most populated, but still a haven of natural beauty, varied landscapes, and ancient history.

Stretching a long, ragged strip from the white cliffs of Sussex to the ancient woodlands of Hampshire, it's crossed by the famous South Downs Way, which follows tracks laid down 6,000 years ago.

Their mineral-rich spring water and lush aquatic plant life create an extraordinary hotspot for biodiversity, which is why you'll be walking the South Downs with Dr.

Rose O'Neill, an environmental scientist, chief executive of Campaign for National Parks, and major chalk stream enthusiast.

[birds chirping] [footsteps crunching] So we are in Ovingdean, which is a little village in the western edge of the South Downs National Park, and we are here because we are going to have a look at probably the most spectacular chalk stream in all of the world.

We're here at the top of the River Itchen, and it's a really, really special place.

[laughs]

Um, I've never been to Boomtown, I gotta be honest, but it's in the South Downs National Park near Winchester.

It's strictly 18s only.

It features sprawling living storyline built around life-size set street sets, complete with 12 main stages, more than 50 hidden venues across heavily themed city districts.

I can't wait to be even more in the countryside.

It's actually right, like, by the South Downs National Park, so we're gonna be hiking loads.

We've go down to the beach with the dogs.
